First known as Arizona City, Yuma was renamed in 1873 and is now the largest city in Arizona, United States. Yuma is the county seat of Yuma County and is situated close to the borders of California and Mexico. Known for its weather extremes, Yuma is the driest and the sunniest place in the United States where you can feel a temperature of 30°C during the winter. This city even holds the Guinness World Record as the sunniest city on earth, with sunshine 91% of daylight hours! If you are fed up with snow and cold, well, this may be a good solution to your problem!

1. Visit Yuma Territorial Prison State Historic Park

Built in 1876 and worked more than 30 years, this so called park has captured a lot of Yuma’s history and spirit. The prison offers guided tours and can give you a glimpse into prison life back in those days. You can see pictures of the prisoners – both men and women, chains and many other artifacts. The place is pretty neat for a prison, but some of the spirit is still kept. And if you really want to feel the atmosphere, you can even take a picture in prison clothes!

2. Go to the The Camel Farm

Want to see a camel? Here you can see a whole farm and you can even feed the camels! Around 20 minutes from central Yuma, the farm is a nice place to spend the weekend if you like animals. Except the camels you can also see zebras, goats and even hedgehogs. And if you get tired of walking around and feeding the animals, you can always sit and try the delicious date shake! Cheers!

3. Go to Waylon’s Water World Amusement Park

The hot weather in Yuma during most of the year makes this kind of attractions the perfect way to relax and have fun at the same time. Water slides are the main attractions, but you can go and try the mini golf course too. There is good food and drinks if you want to spend the day there with your family. You can be sure you will all have a blast!

4. Try Yuma River Tubing

A good way to relax – this is what river tubing in Yuma is. A five mile float in the sun can make you chill and forget all your problems. The float can take a couple of hours or more, so make sure you bring a hat and some sun cream. What if you get hungry? Well, you can always pull over to have some lunch at one of the sand bars. After that you can relax again and enjoy the scenery and the nature!

5. Have a bite at Lutes Casino

Ddo not be fooled by the name – this is one of the best restaurants in Yuma! The building’s history goes back in 1901 and since then it has changed its purposes many times. Now this is one of the most popular places in town and you will easily see why. The decoration of the place is unique and gives it a great atmosphere. However, the most important thing there is of course the food. Do not forget to try their famous Especial Burger, a combination between hamburger and a hot dog. Enjoy!

Its population is around 5500 people which makes it more of a town if you ask me. Situated along the Gulf of Mexico, Orange Beach has a lot to offer to its tourists. They can choose between nature hikes, fishing, sports events, cruises and much more! The warm Alabama beaches are a number one stop if you visit the city in the summer. Sun, water and a lot of fun – this is what we call a good vacation!

1. Go to a Dolphin Cruise

What better way to spend a sunny day with your family! You can choose one of the many boats that offer cruises in Orange Beach and be sure you will have a lot of fun. You will see dolphins jumping and playing in the water which is something you can’t see every day. Aside from that, you will be offered different fun programs on the boat, snacks and cold drinks. What more can you ask for?

2. Try the Orange Beach Parasail

If you still haven’t tried parasailing, perhaps this is the perfect place to do it. There are several companies that you can choose from, but whatever you choose, it will sure be a lot of fun! While flying above the water you can also explore the wild life under it – fish, turtles, jellyfish and dolphins are just some of the creatures living there. If you are not alone and you want to try this adventure, don’t worry – it accommodates up to three flyers at once. You will get a lot of photos too and you don’t need to bring your camera – everything will be taken care of!

3. Visit the Indian & Sea Museum

In the city with mostly outdoor life, it is hard to find many museums. This one, located in the heart of the city, is a good place to spend half an hour while educating yourself about the settlement of Orange Beach long back in the years. There are some very interesting artifacts about the area which make the pretty small museum a nice place to take your children to. It is open only two days a week, but it’s free and very educational.

4. Go to one of the Amusement parks

Looking for something fun to do? What better place than an amusement park? A lot of different things to do, many games and attractions are available for all ages. You can try the go-kart course, go to the arcade in the front, or play some mini golf and you can even try and win some of the prizes! It is just like back in your childhood, right?

5. Go to The Hangout Music Festival

This annual three-day music festival is held at the public beaches of Gulf Shores and it offers all kinds of music for all music tastes. From rock to hip-hop, and from indie to electronic music – there is something for everyone. The six stages host more than 60 bands which play sunrise to sunset – 24 hours a day for three days! If you are interested, the next one is in May 2016. Just don’t forget to take your swimming suit and your good mood!
