Our next stop is going to be Blue Ridge Mountains’ diamond – the town of Blue Ridge. The town is the county seat of Fannin County in Georgia, United States. With a population of only 1,300 people, you may be wondering what is there to do in a small town like this. Well, actually you may be surprised how alive this place is, although it can never measure up to the big cities. Established as a railroad town, today Blue Ridge offers a lot more to its guests and locals, leaving you with the feeling you are at the right place in the right time. Blue Ridge is a place where you can find tranquility and relaxation, and this is why once the town was considered an elite health resort.

 

  1. Take the train on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway

 

The best way to explore the nature of Blue Ridge is to walk around or take a train. The ride starts from the depot in downtown Blue Ridge, built in 1905, and it take about 4 hours. There are both climate controlled rail cars or open-air rail cars for those who want to breathe the fresh air, although it can get pretty cold. The train goes to McCaysville, Georgia and Copperhill, Tennessee where passengers usually have about 2 hours to have lunch, take a walk around and enjoy the scenery!

Perfect for food lovers, this activity is one of the fun things you can do in Blue Ridge. The guided food and drink tours take about 3 hours and make 5 or 6 stops to various eateries. You will have the chance to try and taste different beverages and meals, and meet with many other food lovers. You can choose from three kinds of tours – Fabulous foodie tour, Brew house tour and the Sugar high tour if you have a sweet tooth. Whatever you choose, you will have lots of fun!

Unfortunately the festival is held only for a day, but it sure a good way to have some fun and enjoy the day and the good weather of Blue Ridge.
